A free restaurant POS for UK restaurants — and what "free" leaves out
BMTable's Free plan is £0 per month forever, with unlimited orders and no cut of your transactions. It is not a trial and it does not expire. It is also not the full product, and this page says plainly which parts you do not get.

How "free" works elsewhere in the UK market
Several UK systems advertise free software. In almost every case the software is free because the vendor is your payment processor and takes a percentage of every sale instead. On a site turning over £30,000 a month, 1.75% is £525 a month — considerably more than any EPOS subscription.
That model is not dishonest, and for very low-volume operators it can genuinely work out cheaper. But it is worth doing the arithmetic on your own turnover before assuming free means free.
Free software, real cost
| Monthly card turnover | At 1.75% bundled | BMTable Free | BMTable Pro (£29) |
|---|---|---|---|
| £10,000 | £175 | £0 + your own card rate | £29 + your own card rate |
| £30,000 | £525 | £0 + your own card rate | £29 + your own card rate |
| £60,000 | £1,050 | £0 + your own card rate | £29 + your own card rate |
Free plan questions
- Is the BMTable free plan really free forever?
- Yes. It is not a 14-day or 30-day trial. One account and unlimited orders at £0 per month, with no card details required to sign up.
- Is there a limit on how many orders I can take on the free plan?
- No. Orders are unlimited on every plan including Free, and BMTable takes no percentage of any transaction.
- What is the catch with free restaurant POS software?
- With most UK vendors the catch is that they process your card payments and take 1.6–1.8% of every sale. With BMTable the catch is feature scope: no offline sync, one staff account, and basic rather than advanced reporting.
- Will my data be sold or used for advertising?
- No. BMTable does not sell customer or transaction data and runs no advertising in the product. Revenue comes from Pro and Enterprise subscriptions.
No card details. No expiry date.
