Restaurant EPOS UK

A restaurant EPOS system built for UK service

BMTable is a cloud EPOS and restaurant management system for UK hospitality. It runs in the browser on tablets and laptops you already own, keeps serving when the broadband drops, and takes 0% of your card takings. Plans start at £0 per month.

What "EPOS" actually needs to mean in a UK restaurant

Most systems sold as restaurant EPOS in the UK are retail tills with a table plan bolted on. The difference shows up at 8pm on a Saturday: a retail till thinks in transactions, a restaurant system thinks in covers, courses and open tabs that stay open for ninety minutes while three servers touch them.

BMTable is built around the open tab. An order sent from the floor appears on the kitchen display the same second. Tables merge and split when a party of four becomes a party of seven. A bill splits by guest or by item without the server rebuilding the order.

What is included

  • Web EPOS that runs on any tablet, laptop or phone with a browser — no proprietary terminal to buy
  • Windows desktop app that keeps taking orders offline and syncs the moment the connection returns, plus a native Android app on Pro and above
  • Kitchen display system with course timing, modifiers and allergen flags
  • Live floor plan with table states, merges, splits and covers
  • Split bills across guests, multiple payment methods on one order, tips and refunds
  • Allergen and dietary tagging on every menu item, held against the item rather than in a separate folder
  • Receipt and kitchen ticket printing to standard ESC/POS printers
  • Sales reporting by day, service, item and staff member
  • Monthly AI menu suggestions on Pro and Enterprise

What it costs

Free forever for a single account, with unlimited orders. Pro is £29 per month and covers three staff accounts, offline desktop service, the Android app, advanced reporting and priority support. Enterprise starts at £99 per month for unlimited accounts and custom onboarding. Every plan takes 0% of your transactions.

UK-specific things it handles

  • GBP pricing and VAT-inclusive display, with VAT broken out on receipts
  • Allergen data held per menu item so front-of-house can answer without going to the kitchen — see our allergen guide
  • Service charge and tips recorded separately from sales, which is what the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023 record-keeping expects
  • Data hosted in the EU/UK region with UK GDPR data-processing terms

Restaurant EPOS questions

Do I need to buy an EPOS terminal to use BMTable?
No. BMTable runs in a browser, so any reasonably modern tablet, laptop or phone works. Most restaurants start on an iPad or Android tablet they already own. If you want a fixed till, a cheap Windows mini-PC with a touchscreen runs the desktop app well.
Does BMTable work if the internet goes down?
The Windows desktop app keeps taking orders and printing tickets while offline, then syncs everything when the connection returns. Offline sync is a Pro feature. The browser EPOS on the Free plan needs a connection.
What card payment fees does BMTable charge?
None. BMTable is not a payment processor and takes no percentage of your sales on any plan. You keep your existing card terminal and merchant rate.
Is there a minimum contract?
No. Plans are monthly and you can cancel at any time. Much of the UK EPOS market sells on 36- to 48-month leases with early-termination charges; BMTable does not.
Can I export my data if I leave?
Yes. Sales, menu and order history export to CSV from the reporting screen. We consider lock-in through data hostage-taking to be a bad business model.
